The well-known British clothes brand, Topshop has finally opened its first flagship store in Hong Kong. They officially opened their store yesterday at Queens Road, Central, offering a several promotions to advertise itself through Hong Kong. Topshop organized a truck to drive to various destinations across Hong Kong to offer the public free products, as well as gift cards from HK$50-1000.
Fortunately, my school was chosen for one of the destination the Topshop truck would go to. However, the majority of students in my school did not have any idea that they would be coming apart from my year. Thankfully, 20 minutes before the truck would be due to arrive; a close friend of mine informed me. Most people waiting for truck were girls in my year that were eager and excited with exhilaration for the truck to arrive. As the minutes ticked passed, and the sun seemed to grow hotter, the truck was extremely late and many doubted it would actually come at all. But I convinced by group of friends that we had already waited for so long, so we might as well wait a little longer, JUST IN CASE!
Suddenly, a buzz of scream erupted from the front of the line, and I knew that the fabulous Topshop truck has arrived! Oh! How the girls rushed for it, as if it were filled with diamonds of every colour and the once quiet and straight queue of people morphed into a wild mob of monsters prying to snatch a product. This behavior was of absolute horror to me, as it forced everyone that surrounded me, including myself to push, scramble and grab for a goodie or two.
Luckliy enough, I was able to obtain a makeup bag that contained a Highlighter, as well as a big, fat lollipop that indeed tasted very good. Though I was a little disappointed as I was aiming to get a gift coupon, at least I was able to get something.
I have realized that many girls had never heard of Topshop before until they had heard about them offering free products. I myself was a fan of Topshop since a very young age and I was surprised to find out that not many people had known about it before. Furthermore, I was also a little surprised that my school nor Topshop had informed us that they would be arriving at our schools which showed that their advertising and promoting was very poor.
Overall, I am very content that Topshop has finally opened a store (well, it is about time…) in Hong Kong because I used to have to fly to Britain to buy their products there. Hopefully, it will branch out even more shops in the future so that it is easily accessible to everyone. I wish Topshop the best of luck for their store and make sure you go check it out your self!
