Having seen many trendy nails on the runways this year, it was a must to try this really cool nail art. This is actually the first time I’ve ever done any kind of nail art on my fingernails as I have always stuck to a one-tone colour. But after seeing the great influence of inspired runway nail-art, I could not say no. As simple as this nail art may seem, it wasn’t as simple as I thought...
| Steps |
1 | Paint a base coat onto nails for a smooth surface to work on.
2 | Using a toothpick or a thin brush, dip into the nail polish bottle. Make sure there isn’t too much nail polish on the toothpick or it will take longer to dry, thus created a huge blob. Slide the tip of the toothpick onto the nails, starting from about the middle. Depending on how thick you want the line to be: for thin lines, you need less polish on toothpick; for thicker lines, you need slightly more nail polish.
3 | Once thoroughly dry, paint over a layer of clear nail polish to make sure the polish lasts longer.
I actually had a little difficulty with this. Firstly, I don’t own any type of nail art pen, which was of a great disadvantage. But if you use a little imagination, you can always find alternatives. Since I have zero experience in doing nail art, I had to redo some of my lines because I either had too much nail polish on the toothpick or my accuracy to estimate where the middle of the nail was very poor. However, this was quite a fun activity to do during the endless summer days ahead of me and the outcome was very cute and summer-y.
